It's Time........

Hello, everyone. What time is it you are asking? It's time to celebrate my 50th post. Now, I am a smidge early as this is only number 49, but I didn't want to wait any longer. I have just a few rules for this giveaway. First, you must be a follower. I have picked up several in the last few days and want to thank all of you newbies as well as those who have been with me since the start. Please don't post this on your blogs as I want to give you all the best chance as a thanks!! Next, you must leave a comment on THIS POST ONLY so I am sure to get your entry. If you don't have a blog, please leave your email address so I can reach you. This is open to US residents only due to postage rates. Sorry. The deadline for entry is Tues Aug 4th at midnight. I will draw the winner on the 5th.

This is what you have a chance to win. A black star candle holder, a bag of cinnamon rose hips, a grungy star candle holder and battery tea light, and a mustard colored paper mache box stenciled with a crow on top and primitives on the side. All items have been made by me. Good luck!!!

I wanted to share another photo with you. This is of our children in front of the corn field by our house. Now, the girls are 5'5" tall so that tells you how tall the corn is!! This is such a blessing for us this year. Last year at this time, the same field of corn was a little over head high, half dead, and just plain nasty looking. It is amazing what a little well-timed rains will do. We are very thankful.

I'll be gone for a couple of days and look forward to seeing your entries and comments when I return. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by. I appreciate it so much. Take care and have a great night.

New Goodies to Share

Hello!! I hope you are all having a good day. It is beautiful here..the perfect summer day...sunny and low 80's. Now if we could only bottle this to use all year!!I know some of you do have this most of the year, but here in Ohio it sometimes is not too nice.

I stopped at the GW and TS today on my way to get groceries. There were many garage sales too, but the kids were along and although they tell me I can stop, it's not one of their favorite things to do. I did stop at one though and they did get out. It's one I went to last year and they sell antiques. The prices are not garage sale prices, but not antique store either. I think they are rather reasonable. Anyway, they like to stop at that one. I found this neat old rolling pin right away. I like the ones that are all one piece. Then I found a really neat wooden bowl. My DS asked me if I already had one like it. I had to chuckle as I have many wooden bowls. I took that as a sign that I had enough for at least now and by-passed it. It was neat though--a Munising. Oh, well. I bought the fabric under it at a local store. I think it will look nice on pm boxes.

Then one of my DD's found this unusual piece. We were all trying to figure out just what it was when the gal came up to tell us. A dealer had just been there and told her that it was a cranberry scoop. Beats me. I wouldn't think they would use wooden scoops for that but apparently they do. She said she has had it for many years and decided to sell it. She used it for magazines. I think it would look neat with greens in it at Christmas. Pardon the cat's head in the picture. Lulu was checking it out. It needs a good scrubbing.

These other items were from the GW and TS. Just more wooden pieces to add to my pile. The clock was only $1.50.I think I may repaint it once I figure out where to put it. I really like the little tin strainer. I'm a sucker for anything old that is made of tin.

We went to a Detroit Tigers game yesterday. We live about 2 hours south. My DS is a Tiger's fan while the rest are mostly undecided or Indian's fans.My DD brought a friend who is a die-hard Indians fan. She even wore an Indians shirt. It rained at the beginning so it started late. The sun came out and was behind clouds part of the time. It did get warm, but it really was a nice day. They lost. DS was bummed.

I had to take a picture of JoJo. This is her telling me she is rather unhappy with me for giving her the monthly flea/tick medicine. She always sulks around after I put it on her. It does have a strong alcohol smell to it so I think that is what bothers her. It's still better than fleas in the house.

Well, I'm off to work on a fall pattern. I am helping Susie at Yankee Lane Primitives make up a few prototypes for her patterns. The first one is going to be a set of bats. Check back in a few days and I hope to have them done. I have never made anything just following a pattern without a picture before. Should be fun.

I'm nearing my 50th post and have some goodies ready for a give away. Check back. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

New Paint Color & Other Ramblings

Good evening. I hope all of you are doing well. Once again, it has been way too long between my posts. I guess good intentions don't get the job done. I have finished a couple of make overs this week, but that is about all. Of course, I didn't take a before photo of the items. I just get started and then think about it. Then, most times I'm too lazy to walk to the house and get the camera. It's sooooo far!! I used a new paint color on the cutting board. It is Silent Night by Pittsburgh Paints, and Menards carries it. I bought it and a couple of other colors this week. They have those cute little sample jars that are just the right size. The gel stain makes it darker than it is. It almost looks navy but it is a darker country blue. It will look neat on some old bowls I think.

My DD's softball team won their league championship last Friday. They were undefeated in the tourney and played some really great games. She is in the back row, second girl from the left. Right next to her BFF. So now we only have one more tourney this weekend for DS and we will be done.

I have been trying to get caught up on scrapbook pages. We have scrap booking at our church every other Sunday afternoon. I have been trying to go and have made a goal to have all the kids sports pages and the girls dance pages done before they head off the school. I am doing pretty well. That cuts into my craft time, but it gives me a little diversion. Some days it sure seem like I might suffer from ADD. I flit from one thing to another to another to another....... I was never like this before. Do any of you suffer the same thing. It honestly drives me crazy. I literally have to stop myself from doing something completely unrelated to what I'm doing while in the middle of something else. This happens several times a day. This is the perfect example. Rambling. Sorry.

Oh, remember the pictures of Olivia our black kitten? Well, some parts have emerged that were not present when we named her. So....she is now a he and his name is just O. We already have an Oliver so we couldn't use that name. We were bummed.

Sorry for the short rather boring post, but I wanted to let you know I am still out here. Take care and thanks for stopping by.

Ugly to Prim Makeover & Lucky Times 2

Good afternoon. I hope you are all enjoying the weather we are right now. Sunny and pleasant. Although we are getting to the point of REALLY needing rain. The crops are showing some stress. We were once told that we shouldn't pray for rain, but to pray for more while it is raining. I'm not sure about that!!

I wanted to share one of my recent GW finds. When I say it was ugly, I mean just that. It had glossy green and gold paint that was very hard to paint over. Some of the green even showed even with the black and navy over it. Wow, what good stuff they used!! Here is the before.

And here is the after. It is the perfect spot for my little pottery pieces.

I also wanted to show you how lucky I have been lately. I am the proud and excited winner of two giveaways. The first is from Carey at American Girl Primitives-N-Such. Thanks so much. I love it all.

Then along came Janene at Primitive Lifestyle and her wonderful giveaway. She really outdid herself on all that she sent. Wow!!! Thanks so much for the goodies. She is a fellow Ohioan. Gotta love that!!

I guess all I need to do now is buy a lottery ticket!!! LOL. Since I have been so blessed by gifts, I am getting together a giveaway of my own. Stay tuned for details. It will probably coincide with my 50th post which is coming up.

I changed my post picture. The corn in the front is our sweet corn patch. It met with a small problem this year. DH sprayed it for weeds just like he always does. Well, the chemical has been changed and he didn't know it. It has been stunted and we are hoping it will produce at least some corn.

Well, I need to get some supper ready. We have more ball games this evening. DD has her first tourney game and DS has an all-star tourney. Two different towns--same time. Gotta love it!!! I guess we are splitting up.

Thanks for taking time to stop by. It means so much that as busy as you are, you take time to read my ramblings. Take care and have a wonderful evening.
